Cellulite Surgery

Smooth that lasts

Cellfina is the only FDA-Cleared, minimally invasive procedure clinically proved to improve the appearance of cellulite for at least three years – the longest FDA-cleared duration for a cellulite treatment.  An outpatient procedure offered through our certified providers.  Cellfina combines a proven approach with innovative technology to treat the primary structural cause of cellulite.  The result is a smooth look that gives patients the confidence to wear a bathing suite and higher hemlines.

How it Works

Cellfina treats the primary structural cause of cellulite – the connective bands woven throughout fat in the thighs and buttocks.  These tight bands pull down the skin, creating the puckering you see on the surface of the skin.  Similar to a rubber band under tension once released, the treated skin bounces back to smooth itself out in as little as three days.  This one-time cellulite treatment is performed in our Kailua clinic in a couple hours

Cellfina uses subcision – a minimally invasive surgical procedure that works by cutting the fibrous bands beneath the skin, releasing the tension that causes cellulite.  Using local anesthesia, a specially designed needle quickly releases the bands, allowing the subcutaneous to redistribute and creates a smooth skin surface.

Prior to the Procedure

Your journey will start with a complimentary consultation to evaluate the cause and type of your cellulite.  Not everyone is a perfect candidate for Cellfina.  Your medical history, and current medication, allergies and overall health will be assessed.  Prior to the procedure you will receive instructions to avoid alcohol and certain medications that thin the blood (like aspirin).  This help to minimize any post-procedural bruising.

We will answer all of your questions and put you at ease for the procedure.  Book your complimentary consultation today.

What to expect during

Your dimples/cellulite on your buttocks or thighs will be market with a pen.  Pictures are taken for documentation.  You will then be moved to the procedure room, where you will be laying on your stomach.  We’ll offer you some music or a movie to take your distract yourself from the noise of the machine.  Suction is applied to the area to be addressed and the local anesthesia is applied.  Once numb, the subfascial release of the bands causing the dimples will be performed.  The procedure takes about one hour.  No sutures are required.  You will be wearing compression shorts after the procedure to minimize bruising and discomfort.

Care after the procedure

Cellfina requires minimal downtime, with many patients being able to return to normal physical activity on the same day as the procedure.  Vigorous exercise can be re-started within a week’s time.  Bruising and light pain is common for the few days following the procedure and resolve over time without intervention.

Cellfina is a one-time treatment, and results last for years.  Since the fibrous bands clipped during the procedure never ‘reconnect’ you’ll enjoy the smooth results for years.  You’ll notice results immediately, but the full result will be evident in about a week after surgery.

Not every person or type of cellulite is a perfect candidate for Cellfina.  That’s why we offer free consultations.  We’ll evaluate your dimples and discuss your aesthetic goals to ensure Cellfina is right for you.

Not all dimples are the same

There are two main causes of cellulite.  The first is bands of fibrous tissue beneath the skin surface that pull the skin down and cause unsightly dimples.  These dimples have an appearance of divots across the buttocks and posterior thighs, and is the BEST type of cellulite to be treated with Cellfina.  People often associate cellulite with “FAT” — however genetics play a major role.  We see many clients that exercise regularly and are very fit, but have a difficult time getting rid of cellulite dimples.  Cellfina is PERFECT for those individuals!

The second type of cellulite has a more ‘lumpy’ appearance.  Typically this type of cellulite is has a hormonal etiology and these patients are often not good candidates for the Cellfina procedure.  If you are unsure, or have a mix – we are happy to offer complimentary consultations to determine if Cellfina can help you reach your aesthetic goals.
